Tammy has been mesmerized by clay for 22 years and her work is held in collections around the world including Japan, Norway, New Zealand, Scotland and Sweden. One of her pieces was chosen and featured in the 2003 Emerging Artists of the Year by Ceramics Monthly magazine, an internationally known periodical. Tammy’s work is inspired every day by the world around her. It might be a tall building, flower, or insect, a flowing stream or a beautiful tree. She has the best of both worlds with wood-firing and electric firing, both warm & natural or bright & vibrant colors. She looks forward to each new piece from creation to decoration so that she can express her love for nature and life itself with whimsical drawings in slip, underglazes or carving. She strives to make her pottery “fun” to look at and functional at the same time.

As a utilitarian clay artist she works diligently to produce pieces that are highly functional in use but also beautiful & decorative to look at. She works hard for them to feel comfortable to hold and use on a daily basis. When developing new pieces her goal is to try to find creative ways to use clay in our everyday lives with items such as covered bowls, berry bowls, oil & vinegar vessels, etc. Her hope is that as she strives for the best quality in workmanship it will make her pieces unique & different for each user.
