Lisa Wilkinson

Available at the Alberta Craft Gallery - Edmonton

Lisa is a wildlife biologist, specializing in conservation of species at risk. Originally from Ontario, Lisa moved to Alberta to pursue graduate studies and be close to the mountains. After many years creating pottery, Lisa coupled her love of clay with her background in biology and began to explore sculpture with a fresh and authentic perspective.

Lisa is enthralled and humbled by nature and has a deep commitment to wildlife conservation. Using both raku and electric firing techniques, Lisa strives to capture the essence of her subject and its individual personality and characteristics. Her realistic, or sometimes stylized, sculptures of indigenous wildlife and their natural elements reflect her respect and passion for both the animal and its habitat. It is through effective use of materials and techniques that Lisa is able to capture signature aspects of her subjects, while engendering an appreciation for sculpting and all its possibilities.
