“I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Treaty one ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline, Nehethowuk Nations and the Red River Metis. I am an undeclared person of settler and indigenous ancestry or Metis person. I studied at ACAD/AUA and graduated in 1999 with a BFA in Interdisciplinary studies and I still practice inter - media today. Over the last 22 years in the arts community, I've had the pleasure to work with many crossover disciplines like video and performance art, music/DJ performance, large scale set and decor creation/installation, fashion and fibre arts, photography and more. Lately, I've been reconnecting with traditional and ancestral creative processes from both lines of ancestry and integrating those traditions into my own work, creating a persona and original link to these creative traditions. I have been acknowledging the places these things have had in my early life and while I didn't continue with them then, I've come back to see their importance in my work now. Integrating these practices into my experience in the modern world has helped me to understand myself on a different level. That understanding has been translated and then expressed, visually, in my work.”
