Ross Bradley - Yes You Can Draw the Figure!
About the Course:
While drawing is the foundation of all art forms, the most challenging subject to draw is the human figure. Working from a live model hone your observational skills as you use a variety of materials. Empasis will be placed on developing your own style of drawing while understanding the principles of anatomy and proportion as well as general concepts of composition, form and light.
About the Instructor:
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and the University of Guelph, Ross Bradley has exhibited nationally and internationally for more than 30 years. His studio practice has focused on the human figure for the past twenty years, working in drawing, sculpture and photography. He has taught adult education programs, including figure drawing over the past fifteen years at the Kootenay School of the Arts, Medicine Hat Cultural Centre, EPCOR Center for the Arts and Harcourt House Arts Center. He is a life member of the Alberta Society of Artists and has served on the Canadian Craft Council. Find out more about Ross Bradley on his website.

Linda Chow - Introduction to Jewellery Making
Course Description:
This fundamental class introduces you to the essential skills of jewellery making. Through hands-on instruction and demonstrations learn how to lay out, drill, pierce, file, form, solder, texture, and polish metal. Using materials like copper, brass or silver you will create a variety of bracelets, rings and pendants. Discover how much fun and surprisingly easy the art of jewellery making really is!
About the Instructor:
Award winning goldsmith and jewellery artist, Linda Chow has been creating both traditional jewellery and wearable sculpture for over twenty years. Her work is exhibited and collected nationally and
internationally. As an educator and an active metal artist, she continues to explore with unusual sculptural forms, non-precious metals and recycled materials. To learn more visit her website.

Brenda Malkinson - Introduction to Colour Woodblock Printmaking
Course Description:
Learn the beautiful process of making colour woodblock prints using different types of wood, tools, inks, and papers. Techniques such as carving, colour mixing and printing will be demonstrated and experienced first hand. Reduction printing, multiple blocks, as well as various methods of registration and printing, both by hand and using the presses will also be included. Print with soy based inks and learn non toxic clean up. Create images of your own design; in black and white as well as in two or more colours.
About the Instructor:
Brenda Malkinson studied at the Alberta College of Art + Design and since 1979 has pursued a career as a full time professional artist involved with contemporary architectural stained glass, drawing and colour woodblock printmaking. Malkinson’s glass and prints are in many private and corporate collections, including The Art Gallery of Alberta, The Alberta Foundation for the Arts, The Massey Foundation, Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, The Cross Cancer Hospital, Mazankowski Heart Institute, The University of Alberta and the Stanley Milner Library. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, the United States, Japan, and Korea. She was awarded the AFA’s Alberta Centennial Commission Award.
