Kudos: Upcoming Exhibitions for Paul Boultbee
ACC member Paul Boultbee (Red Deer, AB) is starting off next month with two exhibitions in the USA.
Monument is an installation of approximately 150 hand-built, sawdust-fired ceramic pieces ranging in height from 3 inches to 20 inches. Monument, based on Shelley's poem "Ozymandias", reflects on humanity's need for memorials and the impermanence of said memorials. Monument, previously installed at Red Deer's Harris-Warke Gallery (2004) and the Epcor Centre in Calgary (2013), will be installed in one of the front windows of Blackfish Gallery, 420 NW 9th Ave, Portland OR. The Gallery's hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 11-5. Since the work will be in one of the front windows it is available for viewing 24 hours a day from September 1 to September 26. Blackfish Gallery is in the Pearl District, a former warehouse district, filled with galleries, restaurants, bars, and boutiques.
Mixed Media is a juried group exhibition highlighting the diverse materials used in the creation of contemporary art works. Playing with the idea of fragmentation, this show aims to make apparent the importance of the medium in visual communication. Paul has two paintings from his Filtered series in this show. The exhibition will take place in the Corridor Gallery of Asnuntuck Community College, Enfield, CT. Mixed Media runs from September 2 to September 12.
