Kudos: Juan Lopezdabdoub New Artist in Residence at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers

By Juan LopezdabdoubThe Edmonton Arts Council (EAC) has announced ACC Member Juan Lopezdabdoub (Edmonton, AB) is the new artist in residence at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, he begins August 5, 2014.

Juan's experience as an immigrant to Canada led him to the residency program at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers. "Painter, photographer and ceramicist Juan Lopezdabdoub moved to Canada to escape the civil war in El Salvador in January, 1991. Arriving in Winnipeg in the winter was a harsh shock – taking him from 20° C to -27° C weather – and that was just the first challenge he encountered as a new immigrant to Canada. Lopezdabdoub’s first hand experience as an immigrant is what drew him to the artist residency position at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers."
