Julia Reimer's Work Selected For AFA Collection

Cocoon (recently in the ACC Feature Gallery exhibition Here and There) by ACC member Julia Reimer was selected for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts permanent collection. AFA collection is considered the premier collection of Alberta art, highlighting work that displays creativity, skill, and innovation.

Cocoon was created by Reimer during an artist residency in Australia during 2012. "This particular work of sculpted glass was inspired by the every day miracle that is the force of life unfolding before our eyes," says Reimer. This is the fourth piece of Reimer's work collected by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the first three being.

Reimer's art will also be on display at Firebrand's annual Christmas Open House on December, 2015 where there will be demonstrations of glassblowing for the public.
