"My needle felt work started as sculptural but once I discovered I could "paint" with wool I became enamored with it"
Nicole Coursen is a largely self taught visual artist from Edmonton Alberta, who was raised in Miami, Florida. She works in a variety of mediums ranging from acrylic painting to textile art. Nicole first started painting at 30 years old. She took a few classes to learn the basics and then continued her journey on a self led path of trial and error. She fully embraced the idea of learning by doing. She has been featured in several group gallery exhibitions as well as the Whyte Avenue Art Walk in Edmonton.
After painting for 10 years she fell in love with needle felting. She creates not only beautiful vistas and still life creatures in this new medium but also needle felted portraits and sculptures. Her style is constantly evolving and growing as she learns new techniques to express her ideas.
