Jennea Frischke (Calgary, AB) received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from the Alberta College of Art + Design in Calgary in 2006, where she majored in Jewellery and Metals. She is influenced by her surroundings, nostalgia, vintage themes, and nature/ornithological interests. Attracted to colour and design, she is driven to explore different mediums and techniques, and works to combine precious and non-precious materials such as metal, wood, plastic, textiles, and vintage components, into one-of-a-kind, quirky, pieces of jewellery and wearable art. While maintaining an active jewellery practice, teaching Continuing Education classes at ACAD, and working as an international vintage purchaser, Jennea exhibits her work throughout Canada and across North America.
In 2011, Jennea was the recipient of the Alberta Craft Council’s Award of Achievement for dedication to her craft in practice and instruction as well as taking on a mentorship role with the Waldorf School Mentorship program.
