“Creating usable textiles for the home is something I enjoy; at the present time I am focusing on the blanket. From childhood to old age the blanket has comforted us and kept us warm. Working with wool and mohair sourced from Canadian suppliers I dye and weave cloth on a small traditional floor loom.”
Cheryl Griffin is from England and lived in Australia and New Zealand prior to moving to Canada. Cheryl studied textiles at Sheridan College School of Craft and Design and focused on dyeing and yardage printing. It was not until later she discovered weaving. When Cheryl relocated to Alberta in 2000, she built a studio and reconnected to textiles, and applied her knowledge of dyeing to her weaving. Cheryl makes functional textiles for the home.
