Suzette received her BFA, majoring in ceramics, from ACAD (now AUArts). Over the past twenty years Suzette's ceramics practice has been multi-dimensional, including both teaching and studio components. She is a long time instructor at the City of Calgary Arts Centres while also maintaining a busy studio practice. Her home studio supplies galleries and sales events across Alberta with both functional and sculptural work. Soon, a large wood-fired kiln will add a new dimension to her work, particularly for the sculptural forms.

Born in Denmark, Suzette immigrated to Canada and Calgary when she was six years old. Her brief time in Denmark had a strong formative influence on Suzette's aesthetic which was, perhaps not surprisingly, described by her professors as having a Scandinavian influence.

Both her sculptural and functional works are made with clays formulated in Alberta and she prepares her own slips and glazes for her animal themed pieces.

"A menagerie of animals have impacted my life and these wonderful creatures often end up on my work. From the iconic Canada goose along the Bow River to the sheep I saw on my daily walks while living in Wales to the many pets that have been part of our Calgary home over the years, they all seem to have made their way into my work."
