Cindy Lee (Calgary, AB) is a textile artist. Using felting, embroidery, and surface design techniques, she creates one of a kind sculptures, wall art and fashion pieces rich in colour and texture. Her work is strongly influenced by the powerful geological forces which formed the foothills and mountains of Western Canada. Inspired by her experience working in the oil and gas industry, her design aesthetic is influenced by naturally occurring, repetitive patterns found in structural geology and seismology.

Cindy fell in love with the unpredictable and natural beauty of felt making in1997 while attending Alberta College of Art and Design. After working in the oil and gas industry for 38 years, in 2017, she retired to become a full-time studio artist. In 2018, she embarked on a journey to complete her BFA in Fibre and Material Practices at Concordia University in Montreal QUE. She has studied with internationally recognized artists in metal and fibre at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina and in various workshops.

Her creative vision embraces community involvement, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. Inspiring appreciation in the possibilities of using fiber to create art is her passion. She regularly shares her knowledge and experience in the format of workshops and individual lessons. Her work has been exhibited in International and local exhibitions. .
