ACC Awards and Preview Party

Preview of the future ACC Calgary Gallery pre-constructionThe new Alberta Craft Council Gallery in Calgary became more real and more official on September 20 with the first big ACC event in King Edward Arts Hub.  The celebration included the Alberta Craft Awards, a lease signing ceremony, and launch of the Donate campaign.  Over 150 members, friends and supporters including Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi and ACAD President Daniel Doz had a first look at the new ACC space which is expected in open in 2016.

Thanks to the following volunteers who helped make the evening a success: Todd Wagg, Linda Chow, Connie Cooper, Crys Harse, Corey, Suzette Knudsen, and all the board and staff of the ACC.

The Award Recipients are:



Award of Achievement - Andrea Blais (Calgary)
For an emerging craftsperson/student, in recognition of his/her achievement to date and/or potential.


Award of Excellence - Shona Rae (Calgary)
For an established craftsperson who excels in his or her area of craft.


The Linda Stanier and Family Memorial Award for Excellence in Ceramics
- Anna Rasmussen (Dickson)


This annual endowed award celebrates the life of Linda Stanier and honours excellence in ceramics. The nominee should work and reside in Alberta and be primarily a studio-based, full-time professional ceramic artist. A couple that works together on the same work may be considered as one nominee.  Nominations may be made by individuals, groups or by the Alberta Craft Council.
